FAQ & Support
Overview
Need help getting started or stuck on a challenge?
This section covers the most common questions about how MenTools works and where to get support when you need it.
Getting Started
Q: How do I start my first challenge?
A: Open the app, tap Start Challenge, and choose from the available 7-day challenges. Each comes with clear daily actions to follow.
Q: What if I miss a day?
A: Each challenge allows up to three fails — if you miss your selected goal or level three times, you’re out of that challenge. Choose your level wisely, but still push yourself to improve. Consistency wins here — finish strong.
Q: Can I restart a challenge?
A: Yes, once a challenge is complete, you can restart it anytime to improve your performance or test your discipline again.
Challenges & Levels
Q: How do levels work?
A: Before starting a challenge, you’ll select your level, which represents your personal goal for that challenge. The higher the level you choose, the harder the daily actions will be. Each completed challenge contributes to your overall level, helping you find your starting point and grow from there. Higher levels unlock harder challenges and future features like Legend events.
Q: How do I choose the right level?
A: Choose a level that pushes you but still feels achievable. If you’re new, start lower to build consistency. As you gain confidence, increase your level to keep growing.
Q: What happens if I fail a challenge?
A: You have up to three fails in each challenge. If you miss your selected goal three times, you’re out. Learn from it, adjust your level, and try again — discipline builds over time.
Compulsory & MaxOut Actions
Q: What are compulsory actions?
A: To protect the integrity of MenTools challenges, we include random compulsory actions. These ensure that every participant is genuinely putting in the work and not skipping key steps. When a compulsory action appears, you must complete it before continuing your challenge.
How it Works:
Select the compulsory action shown.
Complete it in full — no shortcuts.
Mark it as complete.
Return to your challenge.
Q: What are MaxOut challenges?
A: MaxOut challenges are single-effort performance tests — designed to find your current limit and push it further. You must complete each MaxOut action in one continuous go (e.g., maximum push-ups, longest plank, fastest time). Your result is saved so you can try to beat it next time. Failing to complete a compulsory or MaxOut action correctly counts as one fail in your three-fail limit.
Competition & Leaderboards
Q: How does the leaderboard work?
A: Scores update once per day based on daily actions completed. It rewards consistency — not just effort on one day.
Q: What is HellWeek?
A: HellWeek is a free, global challenge that runs every three months. It’s open to all men ready to test their limits and see where they rank worldwide.
Q: Can I compete with friends?
A: Yes. Once you’ve joined a challenge, you can invite your friends to join that same challenge. This turns it into a Friend Challenge where you’ll appear together on the leaderboard. Invite them before Day 1 ends, then track progress side-by-side and send a Kick Up the Arse reminder when someone starts slipping.
Tools & Progress
Q: How do I use the meditation or journal tools?
A: If you see an arrow icon (→) next to a challenge action, it means that action includes a built-in tool such as meditation, journaling, or a timer. To use the tool, simply press the arrow. You can use it as many times as you like — just re-press the action to re-enter and continue your session.
Q: Where do I track my progress?
A: The app includes a Progress Screen, which shows your daily actions, current streak, and challenge history. Use the Today and Challenges tabs to see what’s active, what’s complete, and what’s coming next.
Safety & Health
Q: Are these challenges safe for everyone?
A: MenTools challenges are designed for most fitness levels, but always use common sense. If you have pre-existing medical conditions, consult a professional before starting.
Q: What should I do if I feel unwell during a challenge?
A: Stop immediately, rest, and seek medical advice if needed. Progress never comes before health.

Q: The app isn’t working — what do I do?
